Casino Hotels

Four casino hotels in Canada. Each is a hotel with a gaming floor as one of its facilities, alongside restaurants, event space and, in most cases, a theatre. Nothing on this page is a booking service and nothing here encourages play; the entries describe the buildings and what a stay in them is like.

    Montreal Casino & Hotel

    Montréal, Québec, Canada

The casino occupies the former French and Québec pavilions of Expo 67, on Île Notre-Dame in the middle of the Saint Lawrence — which means the building has an architectural history entirely independent of its current use, and the upper levels still give the views they were designed to give. Hotel accommodation is arranged in partnership on and around the island parc.

Beyond the gaming floor there are several restaurants, a cabaret-style performance hall, and the Parc Jean-Drapeau grounds immediately outside: gardens, cycling paths, the Biosphère, and a river crossing back into the old port.

    Fallsview Casino Resort

    Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Fallsview is built into the escarpment above the Horseshoe Falls, and the topography does most of the work: the hotel tower stands high enough that a large share of the rooms look directly at the falls, with the mist visible from bed on a still morning. It is a full resort, with a spa, a shopping promenade and a 1,500-seat theatre that books touring acts year-round.

The gaming floor is one facility among these. Guests who never set foot on it still have a walkable route down to the falls themselves, Clifton Hill, and the parkway that runs along the gorge.

    River Rock Casino Resort

    Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

River Rock sits on the north arm of the Fraser River in Richmond, with a marina at the back door and Vancouver International Airport close enough that it functions as an airport hotel for anyone with an early flight. The Canada Line station outside puts downtown Vancouver about twenty minutes away without a car.

The property runs a theatre, a set of restaurants, and a hotel split across two buildings — one newer and quieter, one closer to the action. Richmond's night market and its dense run of regional Chinese restaurants are the reason a good number of guests are in the area at all.

    Casino Rama Resort

    Rama, Ontario, Canada

Casino Rama stands on the Chippewas of Rama First Nation's land near Orillia, roughly an hour and a half north of Toronto, in the lake country where Ontario shifts from farmland to granite and pine. The hotel is low and spread out rather than towered, which fits the site.

Its entertainment centre is the largest draw after the restaurants — a room of several thousand seats that has hosted touring musicians for decades. Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe are both minutes away, and the Trans Canada Trail passes nearby for anyone who wants the morning outdoors.
